چکیده
Abstract
Objective: Given the array of neuroimaging studies examining neurobiology anorexia nervosa, purpose this paper was to further highlight localized neurobiological abnormalities when reward learning pathways in patients suffering from AN.
Methods: Literature searches using PsycINFO, EMBASE, and MEDLINE were conducted March 2022 search terms relating AN, learning, neuroimaging. Relevant that included must be written English, have at least one clinical sample either acute and/or recovered adult adolescent female with controlled a healthy control group, published peer-reviewed journal, containing component.
Results: For systematic review, 20 relevant elucidate brain regional functional differences respect individuals AN compared controls. These include dopamine neuron cortisol release relation dopaminergic pathways, as well involved subconstructs expectancies, punishment sensitivity, social reward, body dissatisfaction image distortion.
Conclusion: In across construct, research efforts focus on these important might help inform development new interventions aimed particular pathways.

Anorexia Nervosa The Neurobiology of Anorexia Nervosa
This article provides an overview of research findings on the neurobiology of anorexia nervosa (AN). including studies of monoamine neurotransmitter function, genetics, brain imaging, and neuropsychology. Such studies are designed to reveal the underlying neuroanatomical and pathophysiological bases of this potentially lethal condition. Notwithstanding commonly held misconceptions, there is no ...
متن کاملNeurobiology of hyperactivity and reward: agreeable restlessness in anorexia nervosa.
Restricted food intake is associated with increased physical activity, very likely an evolutionary advantage, initially both functional and rewarding. The hyperactivity of patients with anorexia nervosa, however, is a main problem for recovery. This seemingly paradoxical reward of hyperactivity in anorexia nervosa is one of the main aspects in our framework for the neurobiological changes that ...
متن کاملAbnormal Social Reward Responses in Anorexia Nervosa: An fMRI Study
Patients with anorexia nervosa (AN) display impaired social interactions, implicated in the development and prognosis of the disorder. Importantly, social behavior is modulated by reward-based processes, and dysfunctional at-brain-level reward responses have been involved in AN neurobiological models. However, no prior evidence exists of whether these neural alterations would be equally present...
متن کاملNeurobiology of anorexia and bulimia nervosa.
Anorexia nervosa (AN) and bulimia nervosa (BN) are related disorders of unknown etiology that most commonly begin during adolescence in women. AN and BN have unique and puzzling symptoms, such as restricted eating or binge-purge behaviors, body image distortions, denial of emaciation, and resistance to treatment. These are often chronic and relapsing disorders, and AN has the highest death rate...
متن کاملReward processing in anorexia nervosa.
Individuals with anorexia nervosa (AN) demonstrate a relentless engagement in behaviors aimed to reduce their weight, which leads to severe underweight status, and occasionally death. Neurobiological abnormalities, as a consequence of starvation are controversial: evidence, however, demonstrates abnormalities in the reward system of patients, and recovered individuals. Despite this, a unifying ...
